Actor and model Mark Wahlberg is one of a only a few entertainers who has successfully made the jump from teen pop idol to A-list actor.

Wahlberg received a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nominee for The Departed (2006). He also brought in strong reviews for his performance in The Fighter (2010). Wahlberg also demonstrated charm and timing as a comedic actor as we saw in last years' blockbuster, Ted.

Everyone knows that Wahlberg was born in a suburb of Boston, Massachusetts. But did you know he's the youngest of nine children?

Wahlberg had a tough start in life and got involved with drugs at a young age and, following a string of pretty crimes, was convicted of assault against two men in 1988. He served 45 days. Wahlberg says that's what changed his life.

His older brother Donnie Wahlberg rose to fame as a member of the 1980s boy band New Kids on the Block. Donnie helped his kid brother land a recording contract, and soon the world was introduced to Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. This led to a modeling deal with Calvin Klein. The rest is history.
