2 Marines Die at 29 Palms in California

My heart is heavy today for the families of two US Marines who died in a training exercise at 29 Palms in California.The two Marines were killed when their helicopter crashed during a training exercise in Southern California. 

When I report this tragic news, I must tell you that my 19-year- old son is a Marine stationed at 29 Palms. He's fine, but my breaks for the families who are getting that dreadful knock at the door. I can't begin to imagine getting that horrific news. Please keep these families in your prayers.

The Third Marine Aircraft Wing chopper was carrying just the two when it went down  at the base in Twentynine Palms a few hours east of L.A.

Both Marines on board died as a result of crash injuries.

The Marines are withholding their names to notify relatives.

Wing commander Maj. Gen. Michael Rocco says in a statement released by Marine Corps Air Station Miramar: "Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the two Marines we lost in this tragic accident."

No word on a cause of the crash, which is under investigation.
