2016 has been colder than your wife's stare in a Baskin-Robbins walk-in cooler in Antarctica after your office Christmas party with the open bar at Hooters.

We've lost a lot of celebrities this year.  A lot of huge stars heeded the final curtain call, and we all wept.  Possibly the saddest thing about the whole situation is that so many celebrities died - you didn't notice them all!

Here are 10 celebrities that would have been much bigger news if the Grim Reaper wasn't trying so hard to top his high score.

George Gaynes - You may not recognize the name, but you will know his work.  He was Commandant Lassard in the Police Academy movies, foster parent Henry Warnimont Punky Brewster, plus lots of other supporting roles.  He passed away February 15th from natural causes.

Rob Ford, former mayor of Toronto - Rob Ford's life was interesting to watch.  He famously admitted to smoking crack while in office, always had the flop sweat that only appears when you have been caught lying, and just saying the darnedest things.  Statements like “Women love money. You give them a couple thousand bucks and they’re happy.” and “I’m serving people. I’m saving taxpayers money. And you know what, I made mistakes, I drank too much, I smoked some crack sometime. What can I say? I made a mistake, I’m human.” He passed away March 22nd from natural causes.

Alan Young, actor - Alan is a an older actor, so it's understandable if you don't recognize his name right away.  You will miss the sound of his voice.  He had lots of voice roles, like Mr. Ed.  However, he was most famous as the voice of this guy:

Kenny Baker, actor - 3 foot 8 inch Kenny Baker has portrayed one of the most famous characters in human history, but you have probably not ever heard his voice or seen his face.

That's right, Kenny Baker was R2D2.  The reason R2 is such a lovable character is that Kenny imbued the droid with his life force.  He became one with the force on August 13th.

Alexis Arquette, actress and transgender activist - Alexis (born Robert) was basically Hollywood royalty. Brother David and sisters Rosanna and Patricia already had booming careers, and Alexis was well on her way.  If you don't remember, as Robert, he almost killed Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta in Pulp Fiction, then slayed us all as the cross-dressing Culture-Club member of Adam Sandler's Band in The Wedding Singer.  Alexis died of cardiac arrest on September 11th.
