5 Things to Do When Facebook Is Down
On Monday, Oct. 21 Facebook experienced a major glitch that wouldn't allow users to post new status updates. The horror! While this isn't the first time a Facebook problem of this magnitude has occurred (and it probably won't be the last), it's a perfect opportunity to reevaluate your life find new hobbies.
Here are five things you can do during Facebook outages to pass the time, have fun and get off the Internet (for a change).
- 1
Use Twitter!
If you're the type of person who gets the shakes when they can't Facebook, Twitter is your next best bet. Sure, having only 140 characters at your disposal may seem like an unnecessary limitation, but it just means you have to be a little more creative.
- 2
Go Outside!
Fall is here, so take advantage of those cooler temperatures and keep that phone in your pocket for a change. Go for a hike, sit under a tree and read that book you've been putting off reading under a tree or just take a nice walk around the neighborhood.
- 3
Do something crazy!
Ever wanted to go skydiving? Bungee jumping? White-water rafting? Without Facebook's Darth Vader-esque social media death grip around your throat, you can!
- 4
Exercise!
Not only has Facebook made us soft in one-on-one communicating, but around the stomach, too. Fix that by walking away from the computer and into the local gym.
- 5
Talk to people face to face!
We do so much communicating online via Facebook that speaking in person to friends and family has become an afterthought -- like MySpace. Take this opportunity to leave your bedroom to say 'hi' to your mom. At least you'll know she won't be posting pictures of the garden omelette she just cooked on Facebook.
