It's another busy weekend in Shreveport-Bossier, especially since fall officially begins this week.

    Krewsin' for the Cure

    This is the theme for the 21st Annual Susan G. Komen Northwest Louisiana Race for the Cure. The organization has partnered with our area Mardi Gras krewes for this year's event. Registration gets underway at 7:30 a.m. at the Shreve City shopping center.

    Walk, Run & Roll

    Pay It Forward Networking is holding its annual race in honor of Lexi Gordon, a young local girl who died from Tay Sachs Disease. Proceeds go toward granting wishes of children who are facing adversity. It starts at 8 a.m. at the Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier.

    Glitz & Grits

    'Louisiana Saturday Night' is the theme of this year's event at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum. It starts at 7 p.m.

    Clay Shooting Fundraiser

    Woody's Home for Veterans is hosting this event. It begins at 7 a.m. at Los Paloma Sporting Range in Benton.

    Purses for a Purpose

    The Salvation Army Shreveport Women's Auxiliary holds its 3rd Annual event from 10 a.m.-noon at East Ridge Country Club in Shreveport. It features a "one-of-a-kind showcase of beautiful handbags, including purses donated by couture shops, local boutiques, department stores and fashion-savvy locals." Admission is $10 and purse prices start as low as $5.

    Heritage & Harvest Tour

    The Red River Crossroads Historical & Cultural Association has its 2015 event from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. It begins on Hwy 3049 north of Shreveport. Residents can go on a tour of the historic Missionary Plantation in Ida, as well as the Bayou Point Plantation home on Shreveport-Dixie Road. Other points of interest include area businesses, churches and attractions.

    SPD Open House & Job Fair

    If you're looking for a career in law enforcement, the Shreveport Police Department is looking for a few good officers. It's holding an open house for interested candidates at the Shreveport Police and Fire Regional Training Academy on Greenwood Road from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
