After Alabama, What’s Next For Coach “O” And LSU?

There was a prevailing belief that an LSU win over Alabama this past Saturday would clear up a lot of questions. The biggest question was "Is Ed Orgeron the man to lead the Tigers?"

There were some that thought a victory over the number one college football team in the country would be the ticket for Coach "O" to remove the "interim" tag from his job title. The Tigers lost to Alabama by a score of 10-0. The question now is what comes next?

There are still plenty of big games left on the LSU schedule. How the Tigers perform against Texas A&M, Florida, and Arkansas might determine Orgeron's future more than the Alabama game.

The prevailing thinking is that Orgeron is a long shot right now. However, winning can answer a lot of questions where college football is concerned. If the Tigers run the table and win the rest of their games this season it might be hard for LSU to let a very likable and respected coach go.

The downside is this. Ed Orgeron is well liked and respected in Louisiana. He is not a national name. LSU is a big time program and just winning the conference isn't enough for the Tiger faithful. Many believe that another coach, perhaps Jimbo Fisher of Florida State or Tom Herman who is the head coach at the University of Houston would  have the star power LSU needs.

Regardless, I am pulling for Coach Orgeron as much as I am pulling for LSU. I believe he is a good man who genuinely cares about his team, his state, and the fans in general. I like his emotion. I like his accent. If he doesn't get a chance with LSU, someone else will want what he has to offer and unless it's Ole Miss again, I will pull  for him there too.

The Tigers will face Arkansas this Saturday night in Fayetteville Arkansas. Game time is set for 6 PM and the game will be televised on ESPN.
