All Hail The Mighty Krewe Of Centaur [PICS]
Wow! Saturday night was one seriously crazy night! The Krewe of Centaur held their annual Midway to Mardi Gras party where they crown their new royals for the upcoming season and both my husband and myself were honored to be a part of this great group of ambassadors! I can’t wait to share my experience/journey with you!
To a lot of people in the community, Mardi Gras is about the party, but I’m here to tell you, it’s much more than that. Mardi Gras in general has an annual 16 million dollar impact on our area. From the parades, to fund raisers, to visits to schools, hospitals and retirement homes, Mardi Gras not only enriches the lives of those who live in Northwest Louisiana, it provides a great outlet to socialize, to network and to fellowship.
We are honored to be a part of this illustrious group, and I personally plan (using my radio platform) to educate our area on all aspects of Mardi Gras and all of the great work our area krewes are doing, including the mighty Krewe of Centaur! FYI, you don’t have to be a millionaire to belong to one of the krewes, just saying! You’d be surprised by how affordable it actually is!
Big thanks to Duchess Michelle Parkerson and Kathy Kochenderfer for letting me steal their pictures yet again!
I also have to shout out the amazing women at Couture Cosmetics on Line Avenue in Shreveport (next to Jason’s Deli) for making sure I looked my best Saturday night. As most of you know, I’m much more comfortable at the barn covered in ‘horse,’ than I am in a formal gown. For this I thank the wonderful Faith Good, as well as makeup artist Kayce Best and hair stylist extraordinaire Lindsay Brocato. If you have a special event coming up, the ladies at Couture Cosmetics are a sure bet!
Also, our royalty coordinator, Queen Centaur XXIII deserves special recognition! Cindy Watson has the (un)enviable task of keeping the court in line and where we’re supposed to be. Cindy, we would be lost without you! Please know how deeply appreciated you truly are!
And without further ado, I’d love to recognize the rest of Centaur’s royal court! We are truly honored and blessed to serve with them!
