Fire Chief Brian Crawford proudly announced that members of the Shreveport Fire Department along with Shreveport Police Officers and LSU Health Science Center Trauma Center will be the recipients of the prestigious “Hero Awards” during an “Evening of Heroes” celebration at the Shreveport Convention Center.

The event, which is sponsored by the LSU Health Foundation, will be held Today, Thursday, May 5, 2011. The LSU Health Foundation will recognize 60 fire and health care professionals for their part in saving the lives of two local residents – Tim Gleeson and Michael Williams.  Mr. Gleeson was extricated and rescued by Shreveport and Bossier firefighters after a devastating car crash on Interstate 220 at the border of both cities.  The second phenomenon involved Michael Williams who was extricated and rescued by first responders after a 16,000 pound steeple collapsed upon his vehicle from a downtown Shreveport Church during a violent storm.  Organizers are expecting approximately 1,000 people to attend this auspicious occasion.

We here at 96.5 KVKI congratulate these fine, deserving folks.
