Do you harbor the misguided belief that exes can remain friends, no matter the tumult of their relationship's end? If so, you're in Tony Award-nominated company: Consider Andrew Garfield's recent public display of support for ex-girlfriend Emma Stone, when he gave a standing ovation to at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards for her Best Actress for a Movie Musical or Comedy win.

“We care about each other so much, and that’s a given, that’s kind of this unconditional thing,” he said of the former couple's relationship, during an appearance on Vanity Fair's Little Gold Men podcast.

“There’s so much love between us and so much respect," he continued. "I’m her biggest fan as an artist. So for me, it’s been bliss to be able to watch her success and watch her bloom into the actress that she is. And it’s also been wonderful to have that kind of support for each other. It’s nothing but a beautiful thing.”

Stone and Garfield broke up back in 2015 after a three-year relationship, citing busy schedules as their reason for the split.

"There was no drama, they’ve been apart while working,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. "They still care about each other. They still have love for one another. They are on good terms with each other and remain close.”
