‘Atlanta’ Star Zazie Beetz Cast as Domino in ‘Deadpool’ Sequel
Since Atlanta won’t premiere until 2018, Zazie Beetz will have time to kick some baddie butt in a new superhero role. The Atlanta star has been tapped to play Domino in Deadpool 2.
The titular star of the film, Ryan Reynolds, made it official on his Twitter account today (March 9). He tweeted out a photo of stacks of dominos with the black dots spelling out Zazie Beetz’s name.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Domino in the Marvel universe, she is a mercenary (and sexy) badass who possesses probability-altering powers and is a superb marksman. Domino was also a member of the X-Men offshoot X-Force, and met Deadpool when she started working as a hired gun alongside X-Force's leader, Cable. Cable is also making his cinematic debut in Deadpool 2.
Director David Leitch will helm Deadpool 2, while screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will pen the script. No word on when production will begin.
Beetz plays Van on Atlanta, which won a pair of Golden Globes this year. Congrats to Beetz on her new role.
