Louisiana State Chapter of C.O.P.S. to Host Inaugural Fallen Officers’ Memorial Invitational Bass Tournament at Red River South Marina March 12-15

Are you ready to go fishing? The Louisiana State Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) will host the Inaugural Fallen Officers’ Memorial Invitational Bass Tournament at Red River South Marina, March 12-15.

This event will raise funds to help the families who have suffered from line of duty deaths in law enforcement. Any officer in any phase of law enforcement, active or retired, can extend an invitation to anyone he or she feels would like to support and fish the tournament.

“This event is the first of its kind, and we’re getting a tremendous amount of support for it,” said Harry Watson, a professional angler who is coordinating the event. “You don’t have to be an angler to enjoy the tournament. We’ll have appearances by pro anglers, vendor booths, exhibits, demonstrations and more, all taking place at Red River South Marina.”

Registration is open now for two-man teams. Registration fees are $200 per two-man team and registration is limited to the first 300 boats. To register, make all entry fees payable to LA-COPS and mail to: LA-COPS, 6713 SageWind Drive, Shreveport, LA 71119.

Pre-fishing takes place on Thursday, March 12. Tournament fishing and public activities at Red River South Marina will take place on March 13-14 and teams will depart on March 15. It's free to watch.

This family-friendly event is open to the general public as well as the families of law enforcement, their friends, neighbors, extended family and business associates. Some local jurisdictions will provide law enforcement awareness programs and demonstrations during the event and there will be activities for spectators to enjoy, including kid-friendly contests and programs.
