When ‘American Idol’ contestant Baylie Brown came out looking like Miss America, we wanted her to then open her mouth and bestow upon us the brawn to go with the beauty. However, when she began her rendition of Lonestar’s ‘Amazed,’ we were anything but.

While nerves can certainly get the best of any performer, she was never able to pull it together. She started off pitchy and carried this throughout the duration of her performance. At the end of the song, the judges noticeably struggled to give Brown positive feedback.

Jennifer Lopez started by telling the 22-year-old Texan that although she was beautiful she never seized control of the song and it was shaky all the way through. “It’s got to be solid” Lopez continued, “I felt like you could have had a moment but we’ll see what happens.” If Brown was feeling a slight blow to her confidence, Randy Jackson’s commentary wouldn’t help. After using “shaky” and “pitchy” to describe her vocal performance he added:  “You look amazing but it wasn’t great.” Steven Tyler questioned Brown’s song choice but said he found her “very pretty.”

Perhaps the aspiring songstress was just having an off night, but it’s really to bad it wasn’t a beauty pageant because in that case – we would be reporting that she nailed it.
