Chinese Government Calls Bejing Auto Show ‘Too Sexy’

Booth babes and car shows go together like booth babes and every other trade show in the world that features the newest stuff that people care to stare at in giant auditoriums.

China, however, doesn’t really care for the antics of these sultry eye catchers. That’s why they have issued a “serious reprimand” for the annual Beijing Car Show.

The city’s Capital Ethics Development Office (motto: we squash fun so you don’t have to) announced on their website that some of the models hired to appear with the new cars at the annual trade show have created a “negative social impact.” Some of the more revealing models have also created an air of “vulgar publicity” for the show.

The statements were released in the wake of two photos of two models at the car show in some moderately revealing outfits including BMW model Li Yingzhi and Internet celebrity Gan Lulu in perhaps the world’s deepest V-cut dress. They are pretty tame by American standards although Lulu’s dress could get you on your HR department’s “most wanted” list if you punch it up on your office computer.

The most ironic part is that the fun squashers at the ethics office have gathered the photos from the auto show in one easy-to-access site on their agency homepage. They’ve even got a huge backlog of other celebrity photos of Beyonce Knowles, Sofia Vergara and Christina Hendricks.

It almost makes us wish we could give up our freedom of the press, just so our government could send us pictures of pretty half-naked ladies to scrutinize for ethical concerns.
