UPDATE, August 31, 2016: The boil advisory has been rescinded. According to city officials, tests show the water in the affected area was never contaminated.

ORIGINAL STORY:  A boil advisory has been issued for residents of Mission Village Apartments at 400 John Wesley Boulevard.

Utility crews had to turn off water to the complex for about an hour today to replace a valve on a water line that runs along John Wesley between Bobbie and Loreco.

This is a precautionary measure until the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals can test water samples and make sure they're free of contaminants.

The city advises residents to boil their water for one minute in a clean container before consuming it, or using it for food preparation or teeth-brushing.

We'll let you know when the advisory is rescinded by the health department.
