Oscar nominee Jared Leto was born in Bossier City, Louisiana back on December 26, 1971.

His childhood was not ideal. He was raised by his single Mom, Constance, along with his brother Shannon. They moved around quite a bit. He landed at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and New York's School of Visual Arts where he studied film-making and painting. In 1991, he made the big move to L.A. to try to make it in showbiz.

He landed a role as Claire Danes' love interest in the critically acclaimed drama series "My So-Called Life." He would later play opposite Danes in "How to Make American Quilt" in 1995.

His first big role, however, came in "Requiem for a Dream" in 2000. For this role, he went on an extreme diet and gave up sex with his then-fiancee Cameron Diaz so he could portray the drug addicted character Harry Goldfarb.

He and Diaz never married, but he has had a long list of A-list girlfriends, including Scarlett Johansson, Ashley Olsen and Lindsay Lohan.

His acting career is on fire. Want proof? He's up for an Oscar this year for his work in the Dallas Buyers Club. Here's hoping he wins!
