Bossier Parish Teacher Jessica Banet Resigns After Issued Summons

A Princeton Elementary School teacher is in hot water today. 28-year-old Jessica Banet has also been an assistant coach for the Haughton Softball team. She is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a teenage girl on that team. Banet is charged with prohibited sexual activity between an educator and a student. Because the player on the Buccaneers team is 17, the charge is a misdemeanor. Banet was given a summons to appear in court. She has resigned from her job at Princeton. We are told the teenager could face suspension because the alleged incident happened on a school sponsored trip to a softball tournament in South Louisiana. Banet will no longer be part of the Haughton softball program.
