The Bossier Sheriff's office will be offering three training class this week that could save your life.

On Tuesday January 9th, they'll be offering a "Surviving Terror" course. The class will train participants on surviving a terror attack. Some of the main points taught will be situational awareness, keep yourself and your family safe and when it is a good idea to fight, hide or run. This class will be free of charge. The class will take place from 6 – 8 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 3200 Airline Drive in Bossier City.

On Saturday January 13th, they'll be hosting a concealed handgun training class.This will help those who want one obtain a conceal and carry permit. The cost for the course is $100, and it’s open to all Bossier Parish residents 21 years of age and older.  Participants will need to bring their own weapons, a minimum of 36 rounds of ammunition and a holster they can wear. The class will at  8:30 a.m. at the Bossier Sheriff’s Firing Range, 2977 Old Plain Dealing Road in Plain Dealing.

Also on Saturday, they'll be teaching a women's self defense class. This class is free for Bossier Parish residents. This class will teach women how to defend themselves in various situations. The class will run from from 9 a.m. to noon at the Viking Drive Substation, 2510 Viking Drive in Bossier City. While the class may be free, you do have to register ahead of time by calling the Bossier Parish Sheriff Training Academy at 318-965-3525.
