Shark attacks in New Orleans are quite uncommon, but supposedly the locals say that there are bull sharks that lurk in the murky waters of Lake Pontchartrain. And last week, this fact was proven true when a seven year-old boy was bitten while swimming in the water.

Trent Trentacosta (7) was the victim of a shark attack while taking a swim with his family after a sailboat outing off of Southshore Harbor.

According to Nola.com, Trent's monther said, "The kids were bunched up together playing, and Trent just started screaming. We started swimming to him, and I didn't know what was going on. I grabbed his leg, and there was a lot of blood."

Bite marks were clearly visible surrounding his heel and on his big toe.

Mrs. Trentacosta said they have been swimming in the lake for years and the thought of a shark attack would have never crossed her mind.
