High technology careers are the wave of the future. Locals who are interested in those jobs can check out some of the area's industries with BPCC's second annual Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (TEM) Career Fair.

The TEM Career Fair is set for 10:00 am-2:00 pm on Friday, July 8, in the Physical Education Complex on the BPCC campus, 6220 E Texas St., Bossier City, LA. The fair is free and open to the public. This year’s Career Fair is sponsored by Valve Works USA and Omni Specialty Packaging.

“Area businesses in the field will spotlight industry specific jobs and the skills necessary to obtain them,” says Sandra Partain, dean of BPCC’s Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics division. “This event provides an opportunity for current and potential students to determine the appropriate educational pathway in order to be job ready.”

Anyone is welcome to learn about an industry and what it will take to be trained in that industry. “We encourage anyone to attend who is interested in a new career or wants to retrain for another career,” adds Partain. “Just because someone isn’t qualified for a particular career field does not mean he or she should not attend.”

Attendees will also get a chance to find out more about training opportunities and how quickly they can receive training for the particular career in which they are interested.

They can also speak with BPCC's Admissions and Financial Aid Office to see what courses the college has to better prepare them for any of those careers.
