Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga Take Coachella for ‘A Star Is Born’ Footage
The great American music festival is the new hot guerrilla filming site. First, Terrence Malick hit up Austin City Limits with Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara, and Michael Fassbender for his dreamy music-centric romance Song to Song. Now, Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga have put the attendees of Coachella on notice: Their dream of momentarily sharing the silver screen with the world-straddling pop star/career weirdo is finally coming true.
Lady Gaga knocked Indio’s socks off this past weekend in her headlining performance, with the customary mix of hits old and new as well as the expected theatrics. (If nothing’s on fire, it’s not a Lady Gaga show.) But before she retakes the stage for the festival’s second weekend, she’ll take over the grounds for a concert of a different nature. Deadline reports that on Tuesday and Wednesday, Gaga and Cooper will mount a pair of country-western concerts as part of a shoot for the upcoming A Star Is Born remake. Through the Coachella app, Gaga sent out the following message:
“All you Monsters that can attend should get decked out in your most comfortable denim & boots, throw on a Stetson (leave those pink Joanne hats at home) and come out to show your support!”
Warner Bros. tweeted out the official sign-up information as well, which dictates that all attendees must be 18 years of age or older, and that though entry costs $10, all proceeds go directly to Gaga’s charity.
This is the latest splashy news item concerning the high-profile remake due September 28, 2018. The massively scaled shoot follows the news that novice director Bradley Cooper had tapped Andrew Dice Clay to portray the father of Gaga’s character (an Italian-American girl with big dreams of stardom in the music biz). You gotta hand it to Cooper — for a first-time director, he’s got no shortage of ambition.
