After Joshua Ledet's third place finish last year on American Idol, Louisiana is proving to be a hotbed of talent once again this year. Several contestants from the Bayou State made it through to Hollywood from the Baton Rouge auditions this time and Port Allen, Louisiana's Brandy Hotard feels like the third time may be the charm for her. She auditioned for American Idol twice before, but this time, she won the judges over getting a golden ticket and a trip to Hollywood with her version of 'Hell on Heels' by Pistol Annies. With her poise, beauty and great chops, she's one to watch, in my humble opinion.

Brandy won the title of Miss Southeastern in 2008 while studying nursing at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. Her talent was, of course, singing. She advanced to the Miss Louisiana pageant, where she took second runner-up honors. Brandy was also Miss Crescent City 2010. She works as a Registered Nurse at Baton Rouge General Hospital. If you're from the Baton Rouge area, you may have seen her perform at the Cadillac Cafe with the Harvey Wallbangers, or in Port Allen at the Westside Bar and Grill, or in Erwinville at Raxx Bistro, Bar and Casino.

I think American Idol is ready for another country gal to emerge as a contender and Louisiana fans are sure are ready for one of our own to win it all! Good luck Brandy!
