Huge news today as outspoken St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Captain, Clay Higgins, has resigned from his post.

This is coming just weeks after he starred in a massive national viral video where he, his office, and the State Police called out a local gang. The resignation comes after several groups, including the ACLU, publicly criticized a recent segment on KATC-TV that was focused on fugitive members of the ‘gremlins’ gang. The station said on its website that the particular video was not made on behalf of CrimeStoppers.

During the press conference, Higgins pointed to changing parameters of his job with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s office as a reason for today’s announcement. He says he met with Sheriff Bobby Guidroz around 11am on Monday to tender his resignation and says they parted as friends.

More details as the story develops.
