It’s difficult to believe John Legend hasn’t known his second ‘Duets’ partner longer than just a few weeks. The singer-songwriter chose Bridget Carrington to sing his song ‘Tonight (Best You Ever Had)’ with him during Thursday night’s debut episode of the ABC reality show. The result left at least two judges wanting to run home to the men in their lives.

Carrington and Legend shared a special chemistry on stage. The 34-year-old Farmville, Va. singer wore a sexy yet professional sky blue skirt and wasn’t afraid to get up close and personal with the singing superstar. Their eye contact was natural, and she proved Legend to be right when he said earlier in the episode that she looked like she belonged on television.

“Makes me wanna call my man,” Kelly Clarkson said as Carrington caught her breath.

Judge Jennifer Nettles of the country group Sugarland was also taken aback. “That was a classy performance, you just owned that song,” she added. So far all critiquing judges have only heaped praise on each singer. In this case, it was up to Nettles, Clarkson and Robin Thicke to decide where Carrington would land. She ended up fourth of the five singers who’d performed during the show’s first 80 minutes.
