The latest pop star rumored to be desired -- not to mention ideal -- for a spot on the soon-to-be-revamped 'American Idol' judging panel is none other than Bruno Mars.

It's largely believed that Keith Urban, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey will be one-and-done judges, replaced with a new look panel installed for Season 13 in 2014. Now, word on the street is that producers are eyeing Mars' for one of the soon-to-be-vacated spots.

Sources claim that Mars is desirable for all the obvious reasons, since "he’s super talented, amazingly charismatic, and well-liked by industry professionals and young fans. The source added, "[Producers] are looking into making him an offer very soon. They’re looking to lock down next season's judging panel sooner than later."

There were rumors that Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson topped producer wishlists, but her rep shot down speculation. There was also the story that an all-alum panel was being manufactured, since former contestants can certainly offer a unique, "been there, done that" perspective.

Even a three-judge panel is not out of the realm of possibility for Season 13.

Whatever happens, the show's brass knows it needs to do something to shake things up, since Season 12 saw ratings dip lower than ever and the series got its butt handed to it by 'The Voice' on the regular.

It's no shock that producers would want the hot-to-trot Mars to infuse the sagging format with some pep and his signature spark.

We thought that the axe would have fallen on the Season 12 panel already, but it's dragging on. Enough already, 'Idol!' Hire some new judges... and quick.
