If you have a Caddo Parish student who has taken art, you know how talented the educators are. The art teachers in Caddo Parish have been recognized for their work in education and in their chosen medium. This summer, you will be able to see some of the works of these amazing artists when the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum opens up the West Wing Gallery for "Excellence In Art."

The Exhibit will open in the West Wing gallery on Sunday, July 10th, 2016 with a reception honoring the art teachers 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Each year, the parish has about 75 teachers in art education and about a third of them will exhibit this summer. Artists exhibiting include Shirlene Alexander, Curtis Bias and Marabella Dunn, as well as Henry Price, an educator as well as the President of the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) Board.

“We are excited about teachers having the opportunity of displaying their work in a museum setting for the public to appreciate,” according to museum curator Nita Cole. The show will offer a variety of acrylic paintings on canvas, watercolor on paper, mixed media and ceramics.

The Caddo Parish Educators Art exhibit will be on display on the West Wing gallery until July 29, 2016. The public is invited to view the exhibit during regular museum hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The museum is located at 3015 Greenwood Road, between Hearne and Jewella Streets.

Admission is free and tours are available by appointment. For more information about the Friends of Louisiana State Exhibit Museum, go to www.laexhibitmuseum.org.
