A nice honor for a Caddo sheriff's deputy over the weekend.

Lt. Richard Corbett was honored as Louisiana's 40 and 8 Law Officer of the Year at the organization's Grand Promenade in Lafayette.

A CSO news release says he was selected from nominees throughout the state after receiving the local Law Officer of the Year Award for Voiture Locale 137 in Shreveport in March.

Corbett is a 19-year sheriff's office veteran and currently serves as Sheriff's Safety Town director. He's the vice-president of the Southern Hills Business Association and Lt. Governor of the Kiwanis La-Miss-Tenn division 9. He's also past president of the Rotary Club of South Shreveport and Kiwanis Club of Southern Hills, a former member of the Junior League Advisory Board, and a current member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Corbett also serves as a district representative on the LA Sheriff's Pension and Relief Fund and is a peer counselor on the Caddo Sheriff's Office Critical Incident Stress Management Team.
