A grant that will benefit over 1,600 low-income children has been awarded to Caddo Parish to fund their Head Start and and Early Head Start programs. The grant, in the amount of $6,294,847, comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Head Start, and will fund the Head Start/Early Head Start Program from July 1, 2016 to January 31, 2017. The grant will then be awarded annually for a 12-month period for the next five years beginning February 1, 2017. The grant was awarded based on the joint application that was submitted by the Parish and The Caddo Community Action Agency (CCAA).

“We are honored to have been awarded this very important grant following our re-competition review by the Office of Head Start,” said Laurance Guidry, CCAA President and CEO. “We are grateful to the Caddo Parish Commission for the continued confidence in CCAA to administer this program for the children of Caddo Parish,” said Guidry.

“We are proud of the quality programs that CCAA is able to provide to our residents through funding such as this grant,” said Dr. Woodrow Wilson, Caddo Parish Administrator. “We have enjoyed a fruitful partnership with the CCAA, and look forward to continuing to work together for the betterment of our citizens,” said Wilson.

CCAA operates twelve Head Start/Early Start centers throughout Caddo Parish and is in partnership with the Arc of Caddo-Bossier.
