The Dialogue Committee met in Minden to look for alternatives to dispose of 18 million pounds of M6 propellant at Camp Minden.

LSUS Chemistry Professor Brian Salvatore is one of the experts who attended the discussion meeting and he is hopeful the EPA will look for an alternative to an open burn. He says:

I talked to Col. Stuckey of the LMD during the break. I think we are OK. All of his frustration stems from the EPA not providing credible data for the safety of their open burn plan. He just seems to want to keep giving EPA the benefit of the doubt and more time to produce an expert to justify open burning. We don't believe any such expert exists.
