The rain has finally arrived....just in time to wash away triple digit temperatures. But don't get used to it. The dry hot weather will be back in time for the weekend. But I did get a little goofy and took a bunch of pictures of the rain on my way into work today
A lunch fundraiser is being held tomorrow to benefit a Bossier City police officer's son. The Bossier Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 39 and Bossier City Police Local 645 are hosting the event, which runs from 11 to 1 tomorrow in front of the Bossier City Police Department
Page Pennock of Shreveport is competing in the Miss USA Pageant in Las Vegas this weekend. I had a great time getting to know her while judging the Byrd High Talent Show in the Spring...and wish her all the best in the big show.
The big shots around here asked me to come up with a list of my favorite places to take the kids swimming. Thankfully, I don't have to take them anymore, but here are the places they love to go.

How many people does it take to change this light bulb? None. On June 18, the oldest-known working light bulb in the world will celebrate the 110th year it has burned bright. The bulb, which hangs idly about in a fire station in Livermore, California, holds the Guinness World Record. It's not clear how this particular bulb has been glowing since it was installed in 1901. Scientists from all over the country have examined the light bulb. The bulb was actually designed by Adolphe Chailet, who - get this - originally competed with Thomas Edison to make the best light bulb in town.

Chinese scientists have produced a herd of genetically modified cows that make milk that could substitute for human breast milk -- a possible alternative to formula in a nation rocked by tainted milk powder scandals. The cows produce milk that has 80% of the same nutritional properties as human breast milk.

A Kansas woman says she's gotten a message from God. She says he's popping up on her leg. Not the face of God or Jesus.....but the letters G-O-D are spelled out in her varicose veins. She says it's a sign that her prayers are being answered. She says she now feels like God he's going to use me and I'm excited."
OK, this story will make you ask: "How dumb can a man be". A guy in England had a wart on his middle finger....way out on the tip of the finger. It's been there for five years. He tried fancy creams, but nothing worked. So the other day he drank some beer, pulled out his shotgun and stretched out his left hand. He then pointed the gun right at the wart and pulled the trigger. Because he was only using one hand to shoot, he couldn't hold the gun steady and he blew off most of his finger.

A North Carolina woman stole a home pregnancy test and three water guns from Walmart in Eden. She also made off with a can of cashews, a box of fruit snacks, a pack of water balloons and a box of granola bars. Her total take...just under 40 dollars.

That’s right, the un-official start of summer is upon us as we cruise into Memorial Day weekend.
Before we get too excited about a three day weekend, let’s not forget to take some time to recognize the Holiday itself and to observe the men and women who have given their lives in the armed services.
Now, onto my top five things to do this Memorial Day around Shreveport-Bossier!
It's a Bunco Night for me and I am gearing up for lots of fun. In college I played a game of beer pong or two. Haven't done that in a while, but Bunco brings back the same feeling of fun with a group of friends.
The Mudbugs lost tonight, so there WILL be a 7th and final game Friday Night. Pre-game begins at 7:45pm and they'll drop the puck at 8:05pm. Can't make it to the big game?
Two Shreveport companies have teamed up to create an interactive, animated story book iPad app for the young and young at heart. Moonbot Studios and Twin Engine Labs have been collaborating on the project for the past eight months. Based on Bill Joyce’s book and short video by the same name, “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore” should be hitting the Apple iTunes store sometime this week.
Local skateboarders can catch a glimpse of themselves in action next week when the long-awaited Shreveport episode of ``Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory’’ is shown on MTV. The program is set to air at 9:30 p.m. Monday, May 23.
