This seems unprecidented.   I lived in Dallas in 2003 and I believe we had more than 100 days in a row that the temperature was over 100.  It's so memorable because in Dallas when the temperature is that high its public transit system initiates "Ozone Action Day."

Shreveport Asks For Help Conserving Water

Let's see... 43 days of 100 plus temperatures... And no rain. It's been a crazy summer so far!

Not only has the weather been creating a high demand on the power grid, it's also placing a huge demand on the water systems.

The city of Shreveport today asked residents to voluntarily conserve water. That way, there won't be a need for any mandatory measures.

SWEPCO Asks For Help Reducing Power Usage

Earlier today, AEP Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) customers in Bossier Parish, near Benton, woke up to no power.

Due to some equipment failure, the outage could last until tomorrow (Friday) morning!

Now,  SWEPCO is trying to avoid the use of rolling blackouts for the rest of us.

They are asking everyone to conserve power by turning off unnecessary lighting or electric appliances... and to limit use of you air conditioning by setting the thermostat up to 80.

‘Cooling Centers’ Were Nice While They Lasted

Thanks to slightly lower temperatures in the forecast, the City will close its 15 ``cooling centers’’ until further notice, Mayor Cedric Glover announced this afternoon.

City Of Shreveport Opens “Cooling Centers” At Its 15 Community Centers

The City of Shreveport has opened “Cooling Centers” at its 15 community centers to provide area citizens a relief from the high heat.

Designated areas at all centers will be available for citizens to receive free bottled water. “Cooling Centers” opened today, from 8:00am – 8:00pm at the larger centers; and 8:00am – 6:00pm at the smaller centers.
