Joella Bates, the first woman ever to arrow Africa's "Big 5" and five-time 3-D Archery World Champion, will appear at Sportsman's Expo 2013, held at the Shreveport Convention Center, July 19-21.

According to Joella, archery is a passion that started in her childhood:

Shooting archery and hunting are more than obsessions for me; they are an integral part of my life. I have spent most of my life compiling an impressive list of credentials that include 40 years of hunting and fishing experience and 17 years of archery and bowhunting. I have taken my passion for this outdoors-lifestyle and devoted my life and career to promoting it.

In 2009, the Tennessee native set a record for being the first woman to ever successfully kill with a bow and arrow the "Big 5" of Africa: a lion, elephant, cape buffalo, white rhinoceros and leopard.

You can say hello to Joella all weekend long and show off your own marksmanship in an archery tournament being put on by the Bayou State Bowhunters Association.
