The New York Times reports that Whitney Houston‘s mother Cissy is shopping a new book to clear up the “lies” that she believes people have been spreading about her daughter since she died in February.

Appearing “emotionally and physically drained,” according to witnesses, Cissy met with publishers in New York to discuss the details. “It’s going to be the bad, it’s going to be the good,” she told one potential publisher. She explained to another executive, “There are so many lies out there and I want to dispel all of those lies.”

Houston died of an accidental drowning heighten by cocaine abuse. The Times speculates that how much money Cissy gets for the book, which will employ a ghostwriter, depends on whether it’s truly a tell-all — whether she gets specific about Whitney’s drug use.

Cissy has already published a memoir, 1998′s ‘How Sweet the Sound,’ which described her family life and rise to become a successful singer who sang backup for Elvis Presley.

Cissy said in an interview last month that those listening to the rumors about Whitney have been misinformed. She specifically cited reports that her daughter was bankrupt. “They think they know everything,” she said. “These people don’t know anything about her. The media doesn’t know what they are talking about. Whitney did not die broke. She’s not broke. She’s not anything … None of that crap.”

Cissy Houston isn’t the only one eager to share a story about the ‘I Will Always Love You’ vocalist. Gospel singer BeBe Winans is readying a memoir called ‘The Whitney I Knew,’ which according to its publisher will contain “Winans’s personal stories and anecdotes that reveal Houston’s warmth, generosity, and humor.”
