Colbert Taps Louisiana Musician As ‘Late Show’ Bandleader [VIDEO]

New Orleans jazz musician Jon Batiste will be the bandleader for Stephen Colbert's "Late Show" when it premieres later this year.

The announcement came via video with Colbert, in New Orleans, introducing Batiste. In the video Colbert is also eating a plate of beignets and ends up covered in powdered sugar.

The Kenner native who tours with his band, Stay Human, is a graduate of the Julliard School of music and is also Associate Artistic Director of the National Jazz Museum in New York City.
