Could Shreveport Become A Sanctuary City?

Earlier this month, the Louisiana legislature defeated a proposal that would outlaw "sanctuary cities" in the state. Right now, there are three in the state, all in south Louisiana. But as the influence of the proponents of open borders grows and the Obama administration continues to turn a blind eye to the enforcement of immigration laws, one wonders how long our corner of the state can remain immune.

Currently, the three sanctuary cities / areas in Louisiana are New Orleans (restricts communication with ICE; bars questioning on citizenship; refuses ICE administrative warrants), Orleans Parish (will only hold an illegal charged with first or second degree murder, aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping, treason, or armed robbery with the use of a firearm), and Lafayette Parish (will not honor ICE detainer without judicial probable cause or court order).

Across the U.S., there are more than 300 cities, counties, and states that are considered "sanctuary cities". Their policy is to protect criminal aliens from deportation by refusing to comply with ICE detainers or otherwise impede open communication and information exchanges between their employees or officers and federal immigration agents.
