Crime Victims’ Rights Week in Caddo Parish

This week has been named Crime Victims’ Rights Week in Caddo Parish. Sheriff Steve Prator made the announcement earlier this week at a ceremony at Centenary College.

The sheriff was joined by other law enforcement, city and parish officials. A crime victims’ information fair was also held in the Centenary Student Union Building. Representatives were on hand, providing the public with information on resources and free services available to crime victims from law enforcement, social service organizations, legal services, crime victims’ advocates, and others.

This year’s theme for Crime Victims’ Rights Week was “Extending the Vision: Reaching Every Victim – celebrates the vision behind the progress of victims’ rights and the ideal of serving all victims of crime.

There were also victims’ families present. Robin Santiago talked about her 27-year-old daughter who was raped and then later committed suicide because of the emotional pain she suffered.

Many agencies were represented including Caddo Parish Sheriff, District Attorney, City of Shreveport, Shreveport Police, Shreveport Fire, Shreveport City Marshal’s, Caddo Parish Coroner’s and U.S. Marshal’s Office.
