Have you heard the saying about not appreciating what you have? I have and it was proven true yet again for this weekend. Our friends have a boat and they invited Keith and I to take a nice Sunday cruise on the Red! Much like people who live on the beach who never put their toes in the sand, I've never really explored the Red River.

The only time I've been on the Red is doing the excursion that leaves from the Shreveport side of the river for a staff outing and then again for a wedding. I've never actually had the time to check out our twin cities from the water. We really do live in an amazing area. Sure, it was sad to see the people living in tents along 12 Mile Bayou, but there was beauty, too. It's easy to see why they call us the Sportsman's Paradise. It was also cool to see the Port where items like the fabled 'super load' make landfall in our area. I also didn't realize how many nice houses were on the river south of Shreveport. I'd sure like to put a horse farm there!

The coolest thing about the trip? Our friends were able to help out two stranded fisherman! I call that a successful outing! I hope you enjoy the pictures!
