DJ David Guetta has worked with some of the industry’s top voices (Usher, Jennifer Hudson, and Nicki Minaj just to name a few), so it’s no surprise that he has broken the record for the longest charting dance hit in the past 10 years.

Guetta’s song ‘Titanium,’ featuring Sia, has been at the top of Billboard’s Dance/Club Play Songs chart for the last 28 weeks. The specific chart ranks the most popular songs that are played in clubs that week, “compiled from reports by a national sample of club DJs.” ‘Titanium’ officially surpassed Darude’s ‘Sandstorm, which spent 27 weeks at the top of the chart in 2000-2002, to become the longest running song to top the charts in the last 29 years.

While Guetta should be proud of his song’s 28-week stay on the Billboard chart, he’s thisclose to nudging Michael Jackson out of the way. The King of Pop’s ’Thriller’ album holds the all-time record with a 36-week reign back in 1983 because before 1991, a number of songs, or even entire albums (hence Jackson’s album ‘Thriller’), could count as a single entry.

Taking over Michael Jackson’s position on the chart would be a feat in and of itself. Guetta is still 18 weeks away from holding the record of  longest charting titles of all-time.
