We've heard crazier things, like ice hockey in the south?

Of course, the ice hockey thing is true... and so is the vineyard. I grew up in California, which is easily defined as Wine Country. Even in my quaint little hometown, everywhere you turn, someone if putting up a vineyard. I always assumed it was too hot in the south to support those little grapes.

I was wrong.

Heart Gates Vineyard on Greenwood Road is the only vineyard in Shreveport-Bossier. It is the realized dream of Robert E. Lewis, a Sicilian immigrant.

After growing up in a large Italian family, Robert wanted to instill the values of family unity with his own son and community. His passion for family and fine wine has given us Heart Gates Vineyard, a name given due to the iron gates with hearts fashioned into them at the entrance of the farm.

One day he hopes to open his own winery.
