The Diocese of Shreveport will honor local law enforcement officers for the 14th year on Friday, August 21st, when St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church will join with Bishop Michael G. Duca in hosting the annual "Blue Mass"

The service will pay tribute to area Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters and Emergency Personnel.

The Mass will begin at 9:30 a.m. and is open to all who wish to gain greater community awareness of emergency responders, while expressing appreciation and support to the women and men who sacrifice so much to serve the people of our region.

The first Blue Mass within the Diocese of Shreveport was celebrated in 2002, and continues to be an important yearly event.  Along with honoring these critical personnel, the Blue Mass allows the opportunity for people to pray for their safety and pay special remembrance to all who have fallen in the line of duty.

St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church is located in Shreveport at 1050 Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. More information can be obtained by contacting the church at 318 868-4441.
