The handicapped sign has a brand new look. Right now, the new version is only being used in New York City, but perhaps it will make its way down to Louisiana sometime in the future.

The older design was created in 1968 and depicted a person with no head in a wheelchair and the posture doesn't look natural.

According to NPR, the new design was created by Harvard graduate design student Sara Hendren, who said she felt her design looks more like a person wheeling him or herself independently. She also revealed that there are some critics.

"We've certainly had people who say, 'It's just an image, and I'd rather you spend your time lobbying for other kinds of concrete changes,'" Hendren said.

Would you like to see the new handicapped sign here in the Shreveport-Bossier area? Or are you content with the older sign?
