Project Celebration, Inc. is a Domestic Violence Program that is located right here in Shreveport, Louisiana.

In light of the recent viral video involving former NFL football player, Ray Rice and his wife, Janay Rice, a certain amount of awareness has been raised involving domestic violence. Women need to know that they are not alone and can seek refuge with Project Celebration right here in Shreveport, Louisiana.

What is Domestic Violence?

Domestic Violence is a pattern of coercive and controlling behaviors used to gain power and control over another person.  Abuse can be verbal, emotional, psychological, financial, sexual and /or physical. Domestic violence is not an isolated, individual event, but a series of controlling and manipulative behaviors used to control the victim. Domestic violence usually escalates over time and can result in serious injury or death.

The Facts:

  • 1 out of every 4 American women report they have been physically abused by a husband or boyfriend at some point in their lives
  • Every 12 seconds a woman is battered in the United States by an intimate partner
  • In this country, an average of 4 women are murdered by an intimate partner each day
  • At least 3.3 million children witness domestic violence in their homes yearly
