A Texarkana, Texas, man struck two police cruisers in an attempt to escape police custody.

Texarkana Texas Police Officer Aaron Wafford stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 900 block of College Drive Sunday morning. Officers became suspicious when 35-year-old Jerome Washington was unable to give them his date of birth.

Washington took off in his car to evade police, but lost control and struck a police car driven by Officer Darren Jones. The pursuit continued to the 4100 block of Main Street, where Washington bailed out of his car and ran. He left his vehicle rolling forward and it struck a second police car. None of the officers involved were injured.

Police tracked Washington to a home in the 4100 block of Texas Boulevard. He was arrested on multiple charges: aggravated assault on a peace officer, evading arrest, failure to identify as a fugitive, and theft under $1,500 with two prior convictions.

The aggravated assault charge carries a maximum sentence of five to 99 years or life in prison and a $10,000 fine. Washington's bond is set at $100,000.
