An Englishman has broken two pumpkin boat related world records in two days.

On Wednesday, 27-year-old Dmitri Galitzine from East London, set a world record in the 100m paddle, then on Thursday he became the first to sail across the Solent Bay to the Isle of Wight, a distance of over three miles. Galitzine was piloting a rowboat carved out of a large pumpkin.

He said: "I have always been fascinated by vegetables. When I found out they could float it seemed to make perfect sense."
