My ventures in the world of regular exercise took a detour on Friday. The whole group shows up to walk with me at Mall St. Vincent and I'm ready to go. But after only 1 lap around the mall, my left calf starts to seize up. It felt like I had a big knot in the muscle. Luckily, Dr. Jason Maggio was with us and he felt that the muscle was very tight. He showed me a few stretches to try to ease the pain. It helped for a little while. But I still had some pretty nasty pain.

I made it about 2 1/2 laps and then just could not go anymore. I feel terrible about letting the group down. We usually go about 4 laps. After taking our daily photos and mapping out our plan for meeting up at Twine on Line, we decided I need new sneakers!! My tennis shoes are more than 2 years old and the way I was stepping was causing the pain in the calf. Or at least I hope that's what was happening!! We shall see.

After our walk on Friday, Rick at Twine had us all out for his wonderful flatbread pizzas. It was nice to sit down and enjoy getting to know all of these ladies better. What a great group!

Saturday, I had to go sneaker hunting. Robert met me at Sportspectrum to make sure I got a good pair of shoes.  Dan tells me I need shoes with lots of support. He says I should have retired my old sneakers a year ago! So I now have these top of the line, Asics purple sneakers. I'll be doing more stretching every day to avoid this from happening again.
