Erin’s High School Football Picks For Week 7

I am 62-10 on the year and this could be the week that I get tested. Several big District games are on the menu this week.

Evangel opened District 2A, pouring on 70 points against BTW and this week, North Caddo could feel the full force of the high powered Eagle offense. Evangel wins this one to drop North Caddo to 5-2.

Haughton is back at home after a tough loss to Byrd to open District 5A play. The Bucs recover in this one and get an easy win over Airline. The Vikings are coming off a big district win over Shreve, but this will be a tough challenge.

Parkway and Byrd will be another big contest in 5A.

Both teams are undefeated and it’s another big 5A throwdown. The Panthers have a high-powered offense and a strong line. But Byrd brings loads of talent and a team with lots of confidence to Preston Crownover Stadium. Should be a Yellow Jacket win to take command of the district.

Loyola is back on the winning track at 3-3 on the year and is hosting Ouachita Christian for Homecoming. But the Eagles are averaging more than 400 offensive yards/game (225 on the ground) and more than 50 points a game and are unbeaten this year. The Flyers won’t be able to contain all of the threats and fall to 3-4.

Minden stays home to battle Woodlawn. The Crimson Tide are 3-3 on the year while the Knights are 1-5 coming off a big win over Northwood. I give Minden the edge in this one.

The Bossier Bearkats are surprising lots of folks this year and boast a 5-1 record. They travel to Campti to take on Lakeview this week. Bossier wins this one easily.

The Benton/Northwood game is tough to call.

The Tigers are 3-3 so far this year while the Falcons are also 3-3. Woodlawn put a hurt on Northwood last week and I am not sure the Falcons can hang in there with Benton. I’m giving the Tigers a slight edge.

Huntington at 2-4 takes on a 1-5 Fair Park team for the bottom of the heap of 1-3A. Toss up for me on this one….but I will go with Huntington.

Captain Shreve looks to stay alive in the 5a race with a contest against Southwood this week. I think the Gators will rebound with a win to move to 4-3 on the year and 1-1 in District play.

Ruston and North Desoto play in Ruston. Both teams are 3-3 and I’m taking Ruston to win this one at home.

BTW and Calvary…easiest pick of the week…..Calvary is a big winner.
