Erin’s Take On The High School Playoff Games This Week
Here are the local teams still in the playoff hunt:
5A
Rummel at Byrd. The Yellow Jackets have the home field advantage. The game is being held at Lee Hedges on Friday night. Rummel has had two tough playoff wins.....moving on by only 3 points in each game. I have to stick with the Jackets to take this one.
2A
Catholic-N.I. at Evangel. This is going to be an offensive showdown. Catholic has rolled up 92 points in its first 2 playoff games while the Eagles have scored 139 points. Expect to see lots of passing and some tricky running plays on Broadacres Road. A win here for the Eagles sets up a road trip to meet John Curtis in the semis.
University at Calvary. The Cavs have also been a scoring machine in the playoffs rolling up 84 points in 2 games to 73 for University. Calvary should win this as long as the guys don’t make too many mistakes.
1A
West St. John at Haynesville.
The Rams are ranked 6th, while Haynesville is the 3rd seed. I think this could be a loss for the Golden Tornados as West St. John has such a powerful team on both sides of the ball.
