Shreveport , LA - The 2013 Krewe of Centaur parade will roll Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 4:30 p.m., beginning on Clyde Fant Parkway in downtown Shreveport and ending at Preston Avenue.

This year's parade, "Centaur's Parade of Festivals," will be led by Grand Marshals and Academy Award(r) winners William Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg.

Parade Grand Marshals William Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg, co-founders of Moonbot Studios, won the 2012 Academy Award for their animated short film "The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore."

"Centaur's Parade of Festivals" will be the Krewe's 22nd parade. Parade floats, cups and beads will represent popular festivals from across the world. Among the float themes will be the Roswell UFO Festival, Navy Fleet Week, and the Running of the Bulls. This year's parade will feature 31 floats, 10 marching bands, several specialty units, and 600 krewe members throwing over 2 milllion beads, cups, stuffed animals, doubloons, and toys.

This year's parade route will begin at Clyde Fant Parkway at Lake Street (near Sci-Port). It continues on Clyde Fant Parkway to Shreveport-Barksdale Highway. The parade then takes a left on to East Kings Highway and continues to Preston Avenue, where it ends.

The City of Shreveport is leasing parade spaces on East Kings Highway along the Duck Pond. Contact SPAR at 318-673-5100, before December 28th, to be added to the lottery list. The spaces are $75 each. Winners will be notified by phone on January 2nd. If you had a space last year, you will have the opportunity to renew your space by mail or in person. Letters regarding space renewal will be mailed December 3rd.
