Full Day Sessions; 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Our Summer Science Blast Day Camps are just what you need to ensure a fun, safe and educational experience for your children this summer.
Summer Science Blast Day Camps are themed and planned to accommodate specific rising grade groups, as follows: Preschool, K-1st graders, 2nd -3rd graders, 4th -5th graders and 6th -8th graders. Each camper must be entering the corresponding grade group in the 2014-15 school year. Themes vary week to week and are all camps are lead by certified teachers!
*9th – 10th graders may attend camp as a Student-Camper (camp fees apply). They will participate in camps alongside campers while learning what it takes to become a camp leader. Are you in 11th or 12th grade? Sci-Port’s Youth Leadership Program is a chance for 11th or 12th grade high school students to develop their leadership skills while helping children to learn about science and math through the Summer Science Blast Camp, Holiday Day Camp and Spring Break Day Camp programs.
**There will be no Summer Science Blast Day Camps the week of June 30 – July 4.

Multiple Camp Discount
$5.00 discount applies to one child attending multiple camps or immediate family members attending additional camps. To receive your refund of $5, provide confirmation of registration to the ticket counter on the first day of camp.
- Full-Day Camp includes morning and afternoon sessions; all materials and supplies needed for each session; breakfast, snacks and lunch; and a Summer Science Blast T-shirt and Science Blast water bottle.

- Camp Cancellation Policy: Cancellations should be made at least 14 days before the camp begins. Sci-Port will retain a $15 processing fee per child after cancellation. No refund is available for cancellations within 14 days before camp begins.
Summer Camp Drop off & Pick up Times & Rules
- Extended care is included with the price of every camp! Camps are 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Drop off is between 8 – 8:30 a.m.
- Pick up is between 4 – 5 p.m. You will be charged a late fee of $1 per minute, per child,
after 5 p.m.
- Drop off is located inside at the SWEPCO Demonstration Theater.
- All campers must be walked into the building by their guardian in the mornings for check in purposes.
- Bring Medical Release Forms, NASA Forms (for NASA Camps)
- For your child’s safety, please remember to sign in your child with Sci-Port’s Camp Staff.
Tuesdays – Fridays:
- Drop off and pick up is located in the Sci-Port circle drive. (See map)
- Pick up in the right lane only. (Left lane is reserved for exiting traffic.)
- You must have an official Sci-Port pick up sign displayed on your dashboard for each camper you are picking up.*
*If you forget your sign(s), then you must park in one of the parking lots and come inside to the pendulum area to sign out your child with a Sci-Port Camp Staff member. Campers will only be released to a parent or guardian with photo ID.
2014 Summer Science Blast Themes & Schedules
Algorithmic Analysis Camp
Do you have a child gifted in mathematics and science? Are you looking for a fun and challenging summer camp? Campers will love playing our brain games and challenging puzzles! Campers will also learn the basics of Chisanbop a Korean for ''finger calculation method,'' an easy, effective way to teach basic arithmetic functions.
Criminology & Espionage Camp
Come learn forensic science and technology. Each day we will focus on a new topic from law enforcement, crime lab, espionage, DEA and even fire investigation. We will meet real police officers and investigate a mock crime scene. We may even have a visit from the FBI, but if we told you we would have to… well you know!
Earth Camp (Additional $10 materials fee)
Learn to love our planet by studying our eco-system and exploring environmental issues. Campers will tye dye shirts using organic natural dyes, create recycled art, and build a butterfly garden to bring home to hatch their own butterfly. We will also go on a nature hike to have a picnic!
Insects outnumber all other groups of animals in the world and they are almost everywhere! Come learn why many insects are valuable to us. This camp teaches the positive role of insects in the environment and the quality of life for humans. Come get hands on with BUGS!
LARP (Live Action Role Playing) Camp
Join us on a scientific journey as campers choose a character, costume and use their imagination, as well as scientific discoveries, in an ongoing week long game. But beware your actions and decisions will affect the how story develops in this live-action role-playing science themed adventure! This camp will be feature local members of the Society of Creative Anachronism.
Molecular Gastronomy (Additional $10 materials fee)
It’s time to get into the kitchen to get cooking with chemistry and playing with your food! This camp tastes great! Campers will experiment with culinary special effects while learning all about molecular gastronomy. Campers will use the principles of chemistry, physics and biology to develop delicious food presented in interesting ways. We will make Volcano Candy, bouncing rubber eggs, Jell-O spaghetti and carrot caviar!
NANO Camp “All the Small Things” (Additional $10 materials fee)
Come do really big things with really really small stuff as you become a Nanoscientist and engineer. Learn just how small a nano is and how Nanotechnology and materials can be inspired by nature. Explore the beautiful iridescent color of the Blue Morpho butterfly, and how nanotechnology mimics the butterfly's wings.
Do you want to be a doctor, paramedic or medical lab scientist? This camp is for you! We will learn all about the jobs and the cool tools that doctors use to keep us healthy. Campers will learn how to insert an IV, take blood pressure, and stitch up skin. We will also get up close with real organs to learn anatomy and dissect an eyeball.
Robotics I (NASA Summer of Innovation Camp)
This intro to the technological realm of robotics will teach you how to build and program the LEGO® NXT Robots in order to complete various challenges to determine who will be the top LEGO® Engineers of tomorrow. Challenges will include a Drag Race and as well as an epic Robot Battle to see who will reign supreme.
Robotics II (NASA Summer of Innovation Camp)
This camp will continue to build on the skills from Robotics 1 as well as add an advanced touch to your LEGO® repertoire. Using our NXTs we enjoy America’s Pastime as we build baseball playing robots. We will also commemorate the 2014 World Cup by having a LEGO® themed Soccer Match.
Come celebrate Harry’s birthday with us at Sci-Warts Academy. A new term will feature potions, spells and charms from all your favorite “Harry Potter” adventures. Plus make your own custom wand, spell book and of course, participate in the ever popular Sci-Port Quidditch tournament!
Sew Electric! (Additional $15 materials fee)
Enter the exciting world of computer electronics and fashion! E-textiles are fabrics with embedded electronics, including sensors, lights, motors, and small computers. This cutting edge field is used in astronaut space suits, wearable medical devices, and fashionable garments. Campers will design e-textiles using new materials like conductive thread, conductive fabric, and flexible circuit boards to make their own creations!
Space Camp (NASA Summer of Innovation Camp)
Come have fun while learning basics of rocketry, propulsion and manned space travel and learn what it takes to become an astronaut! Although trainees do not undergo the intense physical training of astronauts, they will test their strength on the Mars Climbing Wall and feel what it is like to walk on the moon!
Veterinary Care Zoology Camp (Additional $10 materials fee)
Animal Camp is back by popular demand! This Camp promotes kindness and compassion for all creatures and celebrates our relationship with animals and how to care for them. What does a chimpanzee like for lunch? Campers will have hands-on learning opportunities and will work with a variety of animals featuring Bossier K9 Units and special guest speakers from Chimp Haven!
