What is the SGBC 5K MISSION CHALLENGE? This race incorporates a traditional 5K run/walk with a challenge element that pits like groups against each other for the bragging rights as the fastest in the Shreveport/Bossier area. The four best individual times for the challenge group (unlimited in number) are averaged and the low time wins the team travelling trophy. Runners included in a Challenge Group are ALSO included in individual age group classifications for the 5K awards.
Challenge Group 1—Public Safety (Police, Fireman, Highway Patrol, EMS, Sheriff Dept.)
Challenge Group 2—High Schools (Staff, teachers, students from any one school)
Challenge Group 3—Middle Schools (Staff, teachers, students from any one school)
Challenge Group 4—Elementary Schools (Staff, leaders, students from any one school)
Challenge Group 5—Churches (staff or members from any one church)
Challenge Group 5—Churches (Members of any one church)
The race starts at Safety Town, goes around the church, through Sheriff’s Safety Town, through an adjoining residential neighborhood and back to the starting point. Race certification by Sportspectrum.

BRING YOUR APPETITE! A jambalaya brunch will be served to all participants after the 5k.
REGISTRATION: Sign up online at sportspectrumusa.com with a credit card or in the store with cash or check or fill out this entry form and mail a check to SGBC 5K Mission Challenge, 8924 Jewella Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71118. Entry forms are also available at Sportspectrum. Early registration is $20 (Youth, $15) until April 5. After April 5, $25.
PACKET PICK-UP: Packet pick-up will be at Sportspectrum on Thursday, April 17 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Packets may also be picked up at Summer Grove Baptist Church Entrance 2 (south side) on Friday, April 18 from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM or on race day.
AWARDS: Medals awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Male/Female in each age category, including children’s categories. Gift certificates awarded for the overall Male/Female winners. Age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over.
