I always say "I stink at bridge" but I don't really mean it -- it's just a joke. I hate to think that maybe it's true and that I really do stink!

I can't tell you how I felt when my husband after only four bridge lessons came in 5th out of 11 teams in a bridge game. Myself, on the other hand, came in on the bottom -- 11th place. He came in 5th after 4 lessons and I came in 11th after three years. Three years!

Duplicate bridge is a very complicated game. It's hard to remember all the different conventions. That is, if you even know all the conventions. I might actually believe that I stink, but I played bridge today and guess what? I came in 4th and got .21 of a point. Take that, Big Guy!

However, I now know what is meant when you hear sports announcers say, "the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat." I've been on both sides of that statement and definitely like the victory part a whole lot better.
